THE LVD MISSION
LVD was created to help athletes grow their impact. We believe all athletes share a similar approach to life and aim to accomplish more than the average person. We believe athletes are the leaders of our generation, and we aim to empower these athletes with a community that supports them and an opportunity to impact on a global scale.
THE DIFFERENCE WE MAKE TOGETHER
It’s hard to explain why we feel so emotionally connected to specific cultures, but they become a part of who we are, often without us realizing it. At LVD, our mission has always been to create a culture of impact through a community of like-minded individuals.
OUR WORK FOR THE GLOBAL WATER CRISIS
OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH WATERAID
Since our inception in 2015, we provide a donation towards WaterAid Canada’s fight for global access to clean water by 2030 for every item sold. We made an active decision to provide the same donation for every item sold, whether that’s a decal thrown in an order or any of our apparel items. Together with our LVD family, we have provided more than 499,860 days of clean water to developing countries such as Kenya, Uganda, and Ethiopia to name a few.
WaterAid focuses on three pillars: clean water, hygiene, and sanitation. This means all of their efforts work towards clean water, decent toilets, and good hygiene, enabling entire communities to unlock their potential, break free from poverty and change their lives for good.
Not only does WaterAid help to provide installation and education around taps and toilets, but they work to convince governments to change laws, link policy makers with people on the ground, pool knowledge and resources and rally support from people and organizations around the world, making lasting change happen on a massive scale.
In the last year alone, our family at WaterAid was able to provide:
OUR EFFORTS TO DATE
When LVD was born, we knew we wanted to help athletes make a difference. Water was an obvious connection for us since athletes rely on water in so many aspects of their lives, and yet this basic right is unavailable to others. We have since expanded our work to help support other missions on a global level. Below you will find some of the other projects we have lead and organizations to which we have contributed.
FUELLING THE FIGHT AGAINST CHILDHOOD HUNGER
Inspired by powerlifting world champion Jennifer Thompson and her high school class, we have created a handful of designs to support No Kid Hungry, an organization determined to help ensure children are not left hungry. This includes a design entirely drawn by Jennifer’s students, as well as our popular “It’s not supposed to be easy” Jen Thompson staple tee and other limited edition items.
ADVANCING SCIENCE, ENGINEERING, & INNOVATION
With a clever play on dopamine and a collaborative effort with American athlete Bryce Lewis, we set out to support the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), an international non-profit organization dedicated to advancing science for the benefit of all people. Like AAAS, we believe science, technology, engineering, and mathematics can help solve many of the challenges the world faces today.
FINDING CURES FOR CHILDHOOD DISEASES
As part of our ongoing line of Ray Williams originals, we support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s mission to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. By providing donations for every Ray Williams item sold, we help ensure families never receive a bill from St. Jude.
ENABLING CANADIAN ATHLETES
Joining forces with Canada’s Inner Strength Products, we rallied powerlifters across Canada and internationally to raise funds in support of the Sub-Junior & Junior members of Team Canada for the International Powerlifting Federation’s World Championship. With the support of more than a hundred individuals, we put all proceeds towards individual athletes and provided each team member with $100 CAD towards their championship expenses.
SUPPORTING VICTIMS OF COMMERCIAL SEXUAL EXPLOITATION
Commercial sexual exploitation is a nightmare for any parent, sibling, spouse, grandparent, or individual. In partnership with powerlifter & figure competitor Katie Anne Rutherford, our “Find Strength” tee provides funds to help reach, rescue and restore all victims of commercial sexual exploitation through the anti-trafficking ministry of Atlanta Dream Center, Inc., Out of Darkness.
